Super group Chickenfoot, comprised of rock gods from various well known and loved bands-Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony of Van Halen, Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani-played to a packed house last night at Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City. After months of touring around the world, it seemed as if their rock n roll worlds collided for the good. They seemed to have really gelled as a band with their individual talents coming together to produce a hard rock sound, heavy on funky drum beats thanks to the uber talented Smith, Satriani’s unmatched guitar shredding, and Sammy H.’s entertaining stage presence and Van Halen like vocals.

The band seemed especially on a high because they had just been presented with their first gold records (selling more than 500,000 units) as a group backstage before the concert. Already looking to their next studio record which they will be working on very soon, they were happy to end their tour back home in the City of Angels. Back stage at the after party, I chatted with Smith about his drumming solos which blew the roof off the house, and with Satriani about the end of the tour and finally being able to go home. Looking forward to the next tour!
