Just a few minutes ago, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled the ban on gay marriage as unconstitutional and overturned it. One more step towards equality! The decision will most likely be appealed by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court and could even go all the way to the Supreme Court. Story still developing……
Update-Here is Judge Walker’s ruling:
“Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.”
