September may just be the biggest month of the year for magazines and their cover girls, but there’s one I’m particularly excited for this upcoming month: Marie Claire & Blake Lively. If you aren’t already in love with the beautiful wife of Ryan Renolds, keep reading and you will be.
Currently on a hiatus from acting, it may seem as though Blake Lively has fallen off the radar a tad, but it certainly doesn’t mean she’s taking a break. “I went straight from high school to Gossip Girl, and both were very structured, scheduled environments, so I never had freedom to explore and carve my own path,” Blake tells the mag. “When I finished my show, I wanted to take a break from acting and try what I would have tried if I hadn’t acted, and that was [Preserve].”
While many are surprised by her acting detour to a lifestyle website launch, Lively is confident in her decision saying, “I always knew I would do something like this.” When asked what her biggest goal for the future is, the 27 year old replied, “I really would like to lend my voice to the people that have less of a voice,” which totally makes sense considering the nature of her site.
“The function of Preserve is part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavor and above all, a place to showcase the power of imagination, ingenuity, quality, and above all, people,” writes Lively in Preserve’s Letter from the Editor.
That’s not all she’s been up to either, determined to make a difference, Lively is also the new face of Gucci’s Premiere fragrance. “I was so excited, because I knew [Gucci] could help me realize some of the desires I had,” Lively told Marie Claire. Realizing that some charities just want a pretty face to associate with, Lively added, “I don’t want my picture taken. I want to do something.”
Inspired most by her family, Blake Lively would love for her and her husband’s family to grow as well. “I gotta get started. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would,” she teased. Family is extremely important to Lively, and is what she is most proud of in life. “I’m proud to come from people that I know are truly good people and will always be there for me,” she says.
