It was a Barbie world, on Sunday at Alan Friedman Jewelry in Beverly Hills. Everything was transformed to be pretty in pink, from the Barbie cake to the “pink carpet,” for the Barbie Rocks jewelry shopping event. The “Pinktastic” Party was hosted by style expert, Anya Sarre, and Barbie Rocks creator and jeweler, Layna Silvagni Friedman. Basically, it’s the ultimate jewelry collection for Barbie lovers, and the collection incorporates the iconic doll’s fun spirit and glam fashion sense. The premium pieces are constructed with diamonds, black diamonds, yellow sapphires, and pink sapphires. All pieces are set in 18kt white, yellow and rose gold, or the highest quality sterling silver. And they are fun, especially the Barbie Dog Tags!
And so, I got into the spirit of the Pinktastic day, and I got my her chalked with Farro Cosmetics pink streaks. Don’t worry, they are temporary and come out when hair is washed! In between bites of the yummy Root of All Food catering and Sheila G’s Original Brownie Brittle, Anya (who is launching her first fashion line-stay tuned!) and I chatted about giving back while shopping, and she let me know that 5% of every sale is donated to Keep A Child Alive helping children with AIDS. Shopping for a great cause is always a good thing! I also got to hang with my Barbie-obsessed beauty blogging gal pal, Dawn from Beauty Frosting, and we had a blast playing with pink feather boa’s in the Rony’s photobooth. She got her hair chalked too! Chudney Ross also enjoyed the day’s event with her little one in tow.
Meanwhile, the room full of girls got to see the ultimate Barbie, the Diamond Doll, which is worth $150,000 because she is encrusted in diamonds! Made of 18Kt white gold, the bathing suit sparkles with more than 2000 black and white diamonds. She is even sports diamond high-heeled sandals, a diamond bracelet and diamond earrings.
