You know I am a rock girl. So I was thrilled to cover the CBGB premiere, powered by CIROC, in Hollywood last night. I chatted with the stars of the film, including Malin Akerman (Blondie), Ashley Greene (Lisa Kristal), Johnny Galecki (Terry Ork), Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins (Iggy Pop) and others about making this historic piece about the godfather of punk, Hilly Kristal, and the legendary CBGB.
And the general consensus amongst the cast was that this film was a blast to make. Particularly the scenes in which they were onstage performing as these iconic rock gods and goddesses. In fact, Akerman, who was sporting a sleek Osman jumpsuit, mentioned to me that her favorite part of filming was shooting concert scenes with Hawkins. And the Foo Fighters drummer joked with me that he felt really skinny at the time the role of Iggy Pop was offered to him, so he took it! Malin’s Trophy Wife co-star Bradley Whitford (Nicky Gant) wasn’t crazy about having to snort powdered sugar, take after take. Ugh! And Justin Bartha (Stiv Bators from Dead Boys) had major music envy and wants to learn an instrument to be a full-fledged rock star. And I might just join him!
After the screening at the ArcLight, we headed over to Hemingway’s for the after-party, where guests enjoyed CIROC cocktails and music from MC5 with Gilby Clarke. Hawkins was all into his vodka drinks, and Stana Katic (Genya Ravan), Galecki and Greene set off a flashbulb frenzy when they posed together. And by the way, Greene seemed happy as a clam as she partied alongside and smooched her rumored BF, Paul Khoury, who didn’t leave her side all night.
I had a chance to jump onstage at the fete to live out my rock star fantasies, with my hubby in tow. Now, if only I could land that recording contract. One can dream, right?
Stay tuned for my video interviews with the cast, coming next week!
