The prince of American street style, Alexander Wang, has some big fashion news this week. He announced his partnership with H&M over the weekend at his Coachella soiree on Saturday night. Guests received one of two invites that were sent out: H&M Loves Music after party or the Alexander Wang Coachella party. But when they arrived, attendees discovered that in fact it was one big celebration. Major Lazer, Just Blaze (Jay Z’s tour DJ), and Iggy Azalea all performed.
This marks the first time that the Swedish retailer has collaborated with a US designer, and Wang couldn’t be more thrilled. He said, “The idea of collaborations isn’t new anymore, they’ve been done from all angles. When they approached me, I wanted to do something different. It will be a new take on a lifestyle offering. It’s a little early [to talk about it], but it’s a completely new take on how they do collaborations. It’s been hard keeping it hush-hush and confidential. I’ve never had to work on something where I’ve not been able to share it with my team. Now I can finally work on it openly.”
Look for Wang’s capsule collection to appear at 250 H&M stores and online come November 6, 2014, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Are you excited about this collaboration?
