Former MTV VJ, LaLa Vasquez, couldn’t have been more in awe of the sacrifices these women make in order to deliver truth in their reporting. In fact, she remarked that she “wouldn’t have the courage to do a percentage of what they do.”
This past weekend, famous fashionistas descended upon the Hamptons for Super Saturday 14 in Watermill, NY. This annual shopping extravaganza benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and draws amazing designers such as Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, and Ralph Lauren whose goods are up for sale at extremely discounted prices.
Talk about inspiring! Empowered women came together last night in Beverly Hills for the 20th International Women’s Media Foundation Courage in Journalism Awards. The honorees-Claudia Duque, an investigative reporter from Colombia; Tsering Woeser, a Tibetan blogger based in Beijing; Tanzanian freelance reporter Vicky Ntetema, and Lifetime Achievement Award winner and Mexican journalist Alma Guillermoprieto-had all risked their lives for the pursuit of freedom of speech and truth in reporting.
