Designer Stella McCartney just felt the ramifications of an extensive social network. A recent photo that she posted on Instagram struck a chord with some of her followers, and not in a good way.
It showcased a rail thin model (Ji Hye Park) in a vest from her Spring/Summer 2015 collection, captioned “Worn well!! X Stella.” Some thought that her photo of the very thin model portrayed an insensitive image of an unrealistic body standard, and thus glorified that body type.
She has since replaced the picture with another featuring model Malaika Firth and showcasing the same top without extoling an unhealthy body frame. In doing so, her brand hopes to ameliorate the blow and celebrate all shapes and sizes. What do you think of the switch?
