I just returned from the Kaufmanfranco Fall/Winter 2013 New York Fashion Week show, and it was all about leather. Brown and black pieces, mixed together and worn separately, leather was literally everywhere! On jackets, skirts, pants and dresses. And there was also a lot of sparkle, intricately beaded skirts and dresses that all came down the runway. In keeping with the current trend of cutouts, a few of the longer dresses revealed peek-a-boos on places like the hips and shoulders. The collection stuck to a mostly neutral color palette with a pop of olive green thrown in for good measure. An in true Kaufanfranco style, all of the pieces were very sexy, and my absolute favorite was a “tied” backless dress, which was both sultry and sophisticated. Hair was worn loose and bouncy, which complemented the “raw refined” looks quite well.
After the show, I caught up with Breaking Dawn Part 2 star Ashley Greene, decked in a springy white Kaufmanfranco sheath dress, also loved the clothes as much as I did. We had a fun stylechat about the looks and what she has been up to during New York Fashion Week.
RCR: What did you think about the Kaufmanfranco show?
AG: It was incredible. It was phenomenal. It was classy and sexy at the same time, I just adored it. Every piece that came out I was like, ‘I want this one, I want that one.’ There was this kind of 1960′s or 1970′s meshing in the show. You got to see the duality between the two designers. I loved it.
RCR: Did you have a favorite look from the collection?
AG: I really loved one of the last outfits that came out. It was this chocolate brown pants and jacket duo. I thought it was kind of the modern day power suit for a woman.
RCR: And how has your fashion week been?
AG: It’s been a little crazy! Of course, I got sick as soon as I got here, but it’s been really good. Unfortunately, I have to leave tomorrow for work. But it has been really amazing.
