Go see Silver Linings Playbook! Not just because Bradley Cooper is hot, or that you want Jennifer Lawrence to be your best friend in real life. OK, maybe those things too. But also go see this romantic comedy/drama because the writing is amazing, the acting is truly impressive, Robert De Niro kills it as the Philadelphia Eagles obsessive/tortured father of Cooper’s character Pat, and there is a dancing competition scene in which hilarity ensues thanks to awkward moves and a faulty lift! In fact, when the cast was introducing the film at the AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn theater screening last night, Lawrence (who smouldered in a plunging Christian Dior dress) piped up and said, “Don’t judge anyone’s dancing!”
What is quite obvious is that this movie will be an Oscar contender, giving nod to the complexity of the characters, brilliant screenplay writing and direction of David O. Russell (The Fighter), and the uber-talented all-star cast. Jane Seymour, Dane Cook and Dermot Mulroney all chatted with friends inside the theater before the lights went down.
Post flick, we headed to the after-party also at AMPAS, where not surprisingly, Bradley got swarmed by adoring fans and industry types, as he posed for pictures and enjoyed the well-deserved attention. Cast members John Ortiz and Chris Tucker shared a laugh, before Tucker made his way over to congratulate Cooper. A long-haired Guy Pierce was among the party-goers, as was Easy Rider himself, Peter Fonda, who was decked in his trademark leather jacket and sun glasses. And Dash Mihok, who plays Officer Keough in the film, could hardly wait to saddle up to the bar and get his hands on a GREY GOOSE Moscow Mule made of GREY GOOSE vodka, tart lime and ginger ale. And by the way, they were delish!
Will you be going to see the Silver Linings Playbook when it opens on November 21, 2012?
