Y-3 AND BAR MARMONT: A NEW YORK KIND OF NIGHT

A look from Y-3 Fall 2009

A look from the Fall 2009 Y-3 Collection

So much fun last night! I went to a private cocktail party at the Y-3 store on the Sunset Strip (8570 West Sunset Boulevard) which was thrown in part by my good friend and East coast transplant, Darryl Gibson, once responsible for all of the fun at the famed Bungalow 8 in NYC. Good times! Together he and a group of close buddies arranged an in store soiree to re-introduce the brand to left coasters (as it is a major hit in NYC) and had a mix of tunes from 80’s to hip hop and of course the King of Pop spun by DJ Aaron Colbert along with vodka cocktails provided by Lotus vodka, which includes a caffeinated version for those late, late party nights! The lower east side looking crowd was comprised of many former New Yorkers (including yours truly),  as well as fashion minded Angelenos looking for something other than Ed Hardy. As people mingled and chatted about the Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas super stylish athletic and casual wear, most party goers did not do home empty handed, including me. Can’t wait to rock those high tops out with skinny jeans or a hot little floral print mini dress!

The party then moved to Darryl’s West coast establishment, the Bar Marmont, which if you know Mr. Gibson, it should come as no shock that the place was packed with a good mix of locals, hipsters, industry peeps, suits, and the usual 20 somethings on the scene. The energy was way up, the bar patrons were swaying to the music, and great cocktails like the Westside (vodka, mint, & lemon) were flowing, along with tasty bites, courtesy of Chef Carolynn Spence formerly of The Spotted Pig in New York City. FYI-I am a total french fry connoisseur and these potatoes were damn good. In fact, I almost ordered another batch. So if you are up for a fun, no BS kind of night in Hollywood, then definitely go revisit the Bar Marmont. And be sure to order some papas fritas!
