VALENTINO PRESENTS FALL/WINTER 2015 HAUTE COUTURE

Last Thursday, Valentino’s brilliant designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, abandoned the Paris scene and held their Fall/Winter 2015 Haute Couture Show in picturesque Rome. The birthplace of Valentino’s groundbreaking line, Rome was a wonderful choice of setting for the Haute Couture Show and allowed the showcase to be nothing short of breathtaking.

Much like Valentino’s collections, the fashion showcase infused beauty, originality, and simplicity into its design. Invited guests were able to explore the exquisite city while searching for Valentino gowns that were installed in secret locations. Among the invited guests, were A-list celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Tilda Swinton.  Gwyneth stunned in a floaty red Valentino gown, while Tilda wore a high-neck white gown that accentuated her statuesque figure.

The Haute Couture Show itself spoke to the mystical and majestic nature of Rome with it’s simple, outdoor set, designed by Italian artist, Pietro Rufflo, and Chiuri and Piccioli’s Rome inspired collection. Linear silhouettes and draping black, red, and dark green dresses, togas and gowns were signature pieces in the Fall/Winter collection, a nod to Rome’s historically ornate yet simple clothing.  Many pieces were textural in nature, utilizing metallic gold embroidery/embellishments and mosaic similarities, which seemed reminiscent of Italian architecture. Adding to the regality of it all, models were adorned in gold headpieces and fragmented gold necklaces, designed by Alessandro Gaggio.

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli used their hometown of Rome as a muse for their 2015 Fall/Winter collection, allowing Valentino paramours to fall in love with Valentino’s Rome and his value of clothing all over again. Are you a fan of this collection?
