This weekend I attended the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, a charity benefit that raises money to help the homeless and poverty-stricken obtain employment. And this was the place to be on Saturday night!
First of all, the location was amazing! The event was held on a gated, hilltop estate in Brentwood with almost 360 degree views of the city. Yes, I was ready to move in! First up, the cocktail hour in the courtyard where guests like Lea Michele enjoyed delicious GREY GOOSE libations. She was also wearing the most beautiful backless Emilio Pucci dress, which looked so elegant with her vodka martini in hand. And although boyfriend Cory Montieth opted to chat with other friends while she had laughs with galpals Jamie Lynn Sigler and Jenna Dewan, the two lovebirds reunited at dinner where they tenderly embraced one another.
By the way, their boss, Glee creator Ryan Murphy, enjoyed the scene as well, mingling around the star-filled room. And as for hottie Colin Egglesfield? Well, let’s just say that he had many lady admirers at the party, including a few who kept relaying to me about how goood-looking he is. Then, the always outspoken Johnny Knoxville mentioned to the Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl that he was “well-oiled” after Dave offered him a beer. I am guessing on the bevy of delish GREY GOOSE cocktails! True Blood star Ryan Kwanten smiled for pictures with a gaggle of giggling girls, who later asked Whitney Cummings to pose with their posse as well. In close proximity, Geoff Stults joked with some friends and me about his new handlebar mustache, which he has grown out for a new role in a webisode. He said that he now gets strange looks from people that he never got before!
The evening’s dinner program was hosted by irreverent funnyman Seth Macfarlane, and he received lots of laughs from the generous audience, even after he had poked fun at many of them! Actually, the event raised over $1,000,000 for Chrysalis. Celebrities like Rachel Leigh Cook and Whitney Port dug deep into their pockets to support the cause. And Seth was joined onstage throughout the night by stars Steve Carrell, Katey Sagal, Rebecca Gayheart (who attend with hubby Eric Dane who really is McSteamy!), Grohl, and LL Cool J who provided the rousing entertainment. He took everyone on a blast from the past, singing hits like Mama Said Knock You Out and Going Back to Cali. Needless to say, many female party-goers went wild and even jumped onstage with him!
Tiffany Payne, who was one of the night’s honorees, perhaps had the best speech moment of the night when, clearly ecstatic, she mentioned that she wanted to take a picture of the crowd to remember the night. So after whipping out her smart phone and snapping the photo, she gleefully remarked to everyone, “This is so going up on Facebook!” Yes, it was definitely a night to remember!
