On June 2nd, Sir Paul McCartney will be honored at the White House as he has been awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, following in the footsteps of Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon-the only other recipients of this prestigious award. Jerry Seinfeld will be making a speech at the ceremony, and Elvis Costello, Dave Grohl, Stevie Wonder, Emmylou Harris, the Jonas Brothers, Jack White and others will be in attendance and many will be performing songs written by McCartney. The Washington, DC PBS station WETA will tape the performance, and it will air July 28 on PBS stations around the country as part of the “In Performance at the White House” series.
