Prince of Persia star Sir Ben Kingsley received one of the highest honors in Hollywood yesterday when he was bestowed with his well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor has played in so many notable movies including The House of Sand and Fog, Schindler’s List, Sexy Beast, and of course, Gandhi for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

And so the celebration continued last night at Nirvana Beverly Hills where the actor (who is half Indian) was again honored by his closest friends and family. I had the chance to chat with Randall Wallace, the director of the upcoming Secretariat and the writer of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart, who revealed to me that he traveled to Scotland where he discovered possible family roots to the main protagonist of Braveheart-William Wallace. As guests nibbled on Indian favorites like tandoori chicken, garlic naan, and vegetable curry, Kingsley pals like CEO of Hyde Park Entertainment producer Ashok Amritraj (Boondock Saints, Shopgirl, and the upcoming Robert Rodriguez directed Machete) toasted the actors accomplishments and all of his critically acclaimed success, even referring to Kingsley’s knighthood saying he was “a Sir before he was a Sir.” Visibly humbled, Sir Ben assumed the microphone and thanked his cronies for “this glorious night” and concluding his thoughts by stating, “Thank you for honoring my wife, my son, my friends, and my family…..You are ingrained on my heart just as firmly as my star is engraved on the Walk.”
