GOLDEN GLOBES GIFTING SUITES-SECRET ROOMS RED CARPET STYLE LOUNGE

Let the gifting games begin! Another indicator that awards season is officially underway is when celebrity gifting lounges start to spring up at various high end hotels, private residences, and event spaces all around LaLaLand. And yesterday, I made my way over to the Secret Rooms Red Carpet Style Lounge at SLS Hotel honoring Golden Globes nominees and presenters. As you can imagine, many items to get a celebrity “Red Carpet Ready” were displayed for the picking-from make-up to hair & skin care, and even Diet Coke (every calorie counts when you have to suck in for photos!) Stay tuned for reviews of some of my favorite Red Carpet goodies in upcoming posts, but I will let you in on who was there. Hottie Gerard Butler signed a T-shirt to be sold to raise money for the victims of the Haitian earthquake, Extra’s Terri Seymour perfected her pout at the Cosmoholic Lip Gloss table, Hercules himself-Kevin Sorbo-chatted with camera crews in front of the Pevonia Botanica eco friendly skin care station, while comedian Tommy Davidson declared that he dug the Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion. Also making the rounds, were reformed porno queen Traci Lords riveted by the Hairlocs hair extensions, Hakeem Kae-Kazim from 24 chatting with a few friends by the bar, and Entourage’s Emanuelle Chriqui and The Office cast member Craig Robinson posing for photographers.

But the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti wasn’t far from people’s minds and in an effort to help, one of the charities from yesterday’s event, African Millennium Foundation (AMF), was planning on refocusing its donations from the day to the people of Haiti. In fact, CCH Pounder, a supporter of AMF and whose film you may have heard of-Avatar (she plays Moat)-is nominated for the Best Motion Picture (Drama) Golden Globe, was thinking about the destruction in Haiti and how the U.S. has responded. She pointed out, “it shows how we have grown as a nation and global means we are interconnected in so many ways.” Actually, her cousin who is a physician and married to a fellow doctor who happens to be Haitian, was trying to figure out how to get to Haiti in order to administer much needed medical help. Currently, commercial flights aren’t allowed to land on the single, available airstrip at the Port-au-Prince airport due to lack of space and air congestion. Hopefully, more relief workers and supplies will be on the ground there soon to help these people in dire need.
