Update (March 18, 2014) Mick Jagger just posted this touching tribute to L’Wren on his website:
I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.
We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.
She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.
I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.
I will never forget her,

This is so tragic. Fashion designer L’Wren Scott was found dead today in her New York City apartment. Apparently, she committed suicide by hanging herself with a scarf and was discovered by her assistant this morning. 
This is a huge loss for the fashion community, as L’Wren was one of the most talented designers showing at New York Fashion Week, and dressing some of Hollywood’s top fashionistas including Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Nicole Kidman. She launched her business in 2006. She has dated Mick Jagger since 2001, but he has not released a statement yet. She was 47 years old. RIP.
