ARMANI TO STOP USING FUR COMPLETELY

Major news from the fashion world this week! Armani just announced that the label will stop using fur across all of its brands. Hooray! This landmark move will begin with the Fall/Winter 2016 season, and include divisions such as Giorgio Armani, Armani Prive, Emporio Armani, A/X Armani Exchange, AJ Armani Jeans, and homeware brand Armani Casa.

Armani himself said in a statement, “I am pleased to announce that the Armani Group has made a firm commitment to abolish the use of animal fur in its collections. Technological progress made over the years allows us to have valid alternatives at our disposition that render the use of cruel practices unnecessary as regards animals. Pursuing the positive process undertaken long ago, my company is now taking a major step ahead, reflecting our attention to the critical issues of protecting and caring for the environment and animals.”

And Armani will be in good company. Just this past Summer, Hugo Boss made a similar commitment to stop using fur. And labels such as Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger are already fur-free.

Joh Vinding, chairman of the Fur Free Alliance, said that “compassion and innovation are the future of fashion.” Do you agree? Comment below!
