Check this out-last night I headed over to the Avalon in Hollywood for the LAYN Rocks charity concert benefiting abused, neglected, and homeless youth in Los Angeles. And this wasn’t any just ordinary concert and when you here the lineup you will know why. Ready? Slash, Travis Barker, Dave Navarro, Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Chester Bennington, Steven Adler, Duff McKagan, Perry Farrell, Billy Idol, and the Ozzy Osbourne, who all of the guys deferred to as their rock icon. What did I tell you? Pretty amazing, right? Turns out, Slash’s wife Perla is on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Youth Network and actually trekked under the 101 bridge on Saturday night to chat with homeless adolescents. And Slash, the giving guy that he is, contacted many of his rock buddies for this unique and incredible concert to raise money for this deserving organization.

During the concert, it was obvious that Slash was thrilled to be playing with his fellow rock gods emphatically stating, “Perry Farrell is the biggest rock star I have ever met” and the introduced the one and only Ozzy Osbourne as “a total sweetheart and the Prince of Darkness at the same time.” And what did they play? Audience favorites like “Paradise City”, “Jane Says”, “Rebel Yell”, and “Crazy Train”, just to name a few. Needless to say, the crowd went wild when Ozzy demanded everyone to get “f#$%&n crazy!”-so much so that several concert goers started pummeling one another! Host George Lopez had the audience in stitches with his stand up at the beginning of the night, joking that all of these rockers put together have bedded every actress in Hollywood and if anyone in the audience would like to join this elite group then they should make their way to the side of the stage for some action. There was also a silent auction which included once in a lifetime gifts like a 1 hour private bass guitar lesson with Duff McKagan, lunch at The Office set, and private ballroom dancing lessons with Dancing with the Stars pro and Kelly Osbourne’s partner on the show Louis Van Amstel. Hollywood music lovers also populated the audience like Twilight: New Moon’s Chaske Spencer, Breckin Meyer from Robot Chicken who mentioned to me that he also plays drums with his buddy Tom Morello, socialite Michael Dean Shelton who reiterated to me how important it was to raise money for this cause, and Desperate Housewives Drea de Mateo accompanied by beau Shooter Jennings and BFF Samantha Ronson.

Stay tuned for further coverage of this extraordinary event and my candid interviews with George Lopez, Slash, and the guys as well as more footage of this mind-blowing concert. But in the meantime, here is a little teaser to get your guitar started. Enjoy!:
