Influenced by the movie “Theeb” and Bedouin culture in Wadi Rum, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz incorporated a neutral palette with touches of metallic in order to create a simple, efficient, and sustainable collection paralleling that of Wadi Rum natives for their Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear collection.
Textiles of choice at the New York Fashion Week presentation included, artisan woven fabrics, organic cottons, vegetable dyed leathers and alpaca. Each of these combined contributed and maintained Nicholas K’s signature proportionally manipulated silhouette and layering customs.
The collection featured garments that appeared light and relaxed without compromising the brand’s fierce nature and countless possibilities.
Neutral make-up was paired with complementing neutral-colored fabrics. Hair was long and in a high wrapped ponytail, often accompanied with Nicholas K’s version of a large floppy hat or oversized visor.
Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber, Miss Universe 2016 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, actress Deborah Ayorind, Sophie Simmons, fashion editor Nylana Fidan Mammadova, model Irina Pantaeva and entrepreneur Patrick Finnegan were all in attendance.
