Looks like everyone’s favorite fan fiction is making a real-life splash. Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are doing their part to meld two of the world’s favorite vampire love tales. The Vampire Diaries star, 36, and Twilight Saga alum, 26, are engaged after just six months of dating. Close friends to the couple say the groundwork had been in place for years, as the two have been close friends for quite some time. A mere couple weeks after being spotted canoodling in July, the couple reportedly moved in together in an Atlanta, Georgia home. This was quickly followed by other signs of domestic bliss, as when the pair adopted horses Eagle and Millie as well as a kitten named Sohalia, and dogs Nietzsche and Enzo.
The news of their engagement comes less than a month after Reed’s divorce from her previous marriage to American Idol musician Paul McDonald was finalized, after their March 2014 split. Somerhalder, for his part in perpetuating the vampire love unions, was famously connected to his Vamp Di costar Nina Dobrev until their split in May 2013. Rumors of impending nuptials started circulating when Somerhalder was seen ring shopping last month at Neil Lane, where we now know he bought a vintage diamond eternity band for Reed in lieu of a more traditional engagement ring. This will be the first marriage for Somerhalder and second for Reed. Let’s hope they’re truly as happy as they seem, because I’m pretty sure that a vampire marriage lasts longer than a lifetime.
