Director Ridley Scott (Body of Lies) is in talks with Angelina Jolie to portray the infamous Patrizia Reggiano in a biopic of of the Gucci dynasty and its surge in popularity in the 70’s & 80’s when everyone from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Audrey Hepburn donned the double G’s, and the story will include the murder for hire plot against Maurizio Gucci who was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995. The diabolical plan was put into motion by Gucci’s widow, Reggiano, who wanted her husband dead after he came into power as the head of the company. She is currently serving a 29 year jail sentence for her actions. Right around this time, Tom Ford was positioned to come on board as head designer of the label, and ended up doing so.
Although no one is attached to play Maurizio yet, reports have surfaced that indicate Ridley has approached Leonardo DiCaprio about taking on the role. If all goes well, Fox 2000 is gunning for a 2010 start date for production on the film. The world of fashion can be so devious!
