Verizon presented the 43rdAnnual Humanitarian Awards benefiting long standing partner Peace Over Violence, which featured a silent auction, award show and dinner with a special live performance by singer/songwriter, Aloe Blacc.
Each year the Humanitarian Awards spotlights those who have significantly helped further Peace Over Violence’s goal of eliminating violence against women, youth and children. This year the honorees were: Kaiser Permanente – Verizon Hopeline Corporate Award; musicians Aloe Blacc & Maya Jupiter – Voice Over Violence Award; The Punk Singer, a Film about Kathleen Hanna – Media Award and Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez – Public Service Award. The event also included a special recognition of the 25thAnniversary of Peace Over Violence’s Deaf and Disabled, and Elder Services Program, the first in the nation to serve deaf survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
