Waity Caity no more! It’s official-Prince William and Catherine Middleton have tied the knot! It was early in Los Angeles-3 AM- but just like so many others (2,000,000,000 around the world!) I watched the Royal procession and was in awe of the pomp and circumstance of all of it. Oh, the life of the Royals!
Cate Middleton’s mother arrived in a light gray suit and wide hat-looking beautiful, like an older version of Cate. From Prince William’s immediate family, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles arrived first, then Queen Elizabeth II, dressed in a bright yellow Angela Kelley suit and hat. The canary color looked great on her and the crowd went absolutely wild as she made her way from the Palace to Westminister Abbey. As she entered the church, trumpeters salute her and Prince Phillip. It is estimated that she has worn over 5,000 designer hats!
Cate Middleton, wore a lace topped Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen designed wedding dress with long train and veil. Her bouquet consisted of the original crepe myrtle planted by Queen Victoria. Her Cartier Halo tiara and Robinson Pelham diamonds earrings (a wedding gift from her parents) were shining! Her hair was down. And she did her own makeup!!!
She arrived by the Queen’s 1950’s Rolls Royce and looked rather calm. The bridesmaids, page boys, and flower girls made their way into the church-looking a little bit sleepy!
Her long walk down the aisle took 3-4 minutes. She paused before her big walk and smiled with her father by her side. Princes William and Harry made their way from the private chapel into the Abbey. Wills was wearing a red uniform suit (highest order) and Harry’s was in black. Cate walked down the aisle to a choir singing followed by her sister, Pippa, and wedding party. Harry said something to his brother and giggled. William couldn’t see his bride as she walked towards him because his back was turned, and she joined him by his side. He whispered, “You look beautiful!” to her and smiled. Aaawww!
The official wedding service presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury was rather short, considering the magnitude of this event. The couple did not kiss during the service, reserving that for the balcony (not once, but twice!) after photos were taken. Immediately after he declared the young couple man and wife, Cate Middleton’s brother spoke offering marital advice. The cameras caught Elton John and hubby David Furnish joyfully singing the hymns in their dapper morning coats. Victoria Beckham donned all black complete with head piece and platform heels, and David Beckham’s hair was slicked back.
Immediately following the service the newly married couple (now called the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) emerged from the cathedral and hopped into the horse drawn carriage en route to Buckingham Palace. The crowd absolutely went ballistic as they received their beloved royals. Congratulations William and Cate. Many years of happiness, health, and joy!
