ESPY AWARDS 2010

Shaun White getting roasted by show host Seth Meyers

I can honestly say that the 2010 ESPYS at the Nokia Theater in L.A. Live have been my favorite awards show this year. Think super talented and cute athletes and celebs like Apolo Ohno, Drew Brees, Flying Tomato Shaun White, Polo model and player Nacho Figueras-he was sitting so close to me that I could have tousled his hair!, the U.S. World Cup soccer team, Zac Efron, Mark Walberg, and Dallas native Luke Wilson mixed with various Hollywood starlets like Entourage’s Emmanuelle Chriqui, January Jones from Mad Men, and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Marisa Miller.

Show presenters January Jones and Zac Efron

Throw in some comedy by the like of Steve Carrell, Andy Samberg dressed as as the World Cup predicting octopus, and show host and SNL cast member Seth Meyers who  delivered the spot on writing, hilarious jokes, and roasts of the evening. Here are some of the zingers that literally left some of the audience in stitches and others with their mouths wide open:

Seth Meyers joking that Brett Favre was so old that Brett remembers the first time Brett Favre old jokes were popular. Brett laughed.

-Saying that Elin Nordgren would receive the highest salary of the year in the sports world after her impeding divorce from Tiger Woods.

-And while we are on the subject of Woods, how about when Meyers tried to cajole the audience “give it up for Tiger Woods” to which almost no one clapped. Seth then followed up with,”unless you already have!”

-But my personal favorite was when Meyers described the ESPY Awards as “where sports and entertainment come together-like a Kardashian’s bedroom!” Immediate camera pan to Reggie Bush who looked like he had been slapped upside the head with a football!

The New Orleans Saints accepting the award for Best Team

And of course, there were the emotional moments like when the Ed Thomas family accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in memory of their father who dedicated his life to Iowa high school football and was gunned down last year by one of his own players. Or when New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was awarded Best Male Athlete and he thanked his pregnant wife, son Baylen, and “my other son who will be here in 3 months. You are such an inspiration to me. I love you so much!” Could you just die-adorable!

The confetti drop at the end of the awards show

The style at the show was comprised of a fair amount of bebe-Kardashian on women, guys in suits with sneakers and sunglasses, ladies in sparkly leggings and tight dresses, and lots of bright colors. And as for the presenters, Marisa Miller looked hot in Alexander Wang with YSL heels, Brooklyn Decker wowed in a dusty rose Herve Leger bandage dress, Twilight: Eclipse star Ashley Greene wore a red-hot Versace knee-length design, and Emmanuelle Chriqui sizzled in a leather illusion mini dress by BCBG Max Azria.

After the show, we headed over to the Conga Room for the ESPN after party where Ohno was surrounded by a bevy of ladies, Brees made the rounds shaking hands, T.O. held court at the same table with Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson and Dancing With the Stars alum Niecy Nash, Baldwin brother Stephen checked out the scene, and tennis player John Isner-who won the longest match in tennis history at Wimbledon this year-happily posed for pictures with fans.
