American Horror Story: Coven premiered last night and did not disappoint. This season proves to be even more twisted, disturbing and riveting than ever before.
Another exciting feature: the newest additions to the already amazing (Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy, who returns this season! Hooray!) cast: Kathy Bates (Madame LaLaurie) and Angela Bassett (Marie Laveau) join Lange (Fiona Goode) and Sarah Paulson (Cordelia Foxx) as the elder witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies (Witches) in New Orleans. Emma Roberts (Madison Montgomery) and Gabourey Sidibe (Queenie) play the younger and unbridled witch set, along with Taissa Farmiga (Zoe Benson), who gets sent to Miss Robichaux’s for boinking her boyfriend to death-literally. Like blood pouring out of his eyeballs.
Fiona is definitely the queen bee, hands down. But look out for Madame LaLaurie who, in the first episode, got resurrected from the not quite dead after almost 200 years. And by the way, she is no teddy bear. Do you know anyone else whose beauty regime includes exfoliating with the pancreas fluid of live slaves? Didn’t think so. So many things to look forward to. Bring it on, Coven!
