In the times of remakes, it should come as no surprise that the Quincy Jones produced “We Are the World” track is being re-recorded today in Los Angeles as a charitable effort for the people of Haiti. Just last night at the Grammy Awards in LA, Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie recruited Lady Gaga and Bono to participate on the new version of the song. Other notables who will be on the 2010 rendition of the song include: Usher, Jason Mraz, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton, as well as several singers. It is the 25th Anniversary of the original recording from 1985, which was co-written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson with the proceeds benefiting the people stricken by the mass famine in Africa. The original recording included the voices of Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Willie Nelson, Bette Midler, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and Ray Charles, just to name a few.
