If you were in my hometown of Dallas last night, THE place to be was at Fair Park for the annual Chanel Metiers D’Art traveling fashion show. Definitely the biggest fashion event that has hit Dallas since….ever!
And the big three were in tow: The Kaiser himself, Anna Wintour, and Andre Leon Talley. Kristen Stewart, who is the face of the pre-Fall 2014 Paris-Dallas collection, attended, as well as her Twilight and The Runaways co-star Dakota Fanning, Lily Collins, Lauren Hutton and Zoe Kravitz. Joan Smalls walked in the show, which was all about the American West. Think lots of fringe, leather & suede and feather headdresses! In fact, Karl Lagerfeld mentioned that he was inspired by pre-Civil War “old Texas.” Not the typical cowboys & Indians, but rather a more sophisticated Westerner.
The evening kicked off with a short film by Lagerfeld titled, The Return, about Coco Chanel re-opening her couturier in 1954 after World War II.
Geraldine Page stars as the iconic designer, and was also on hand for the night’s festivities. Guests viewed the movie in a hall constructed to look like a drive-in movie theater. And after the show, guests partied in a honky tonk, complete with a mechanical bull! Yee-haw! What do you think of the Paris-Dallas collection? Would you wear it?
