I love the Elton John Oscars Party! Why? Because it is a highly glamorous soiree thrown by Elton and his hubby, David Furnish, to celebrate the Academy Awards and to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Oh yes, champagne freely flows all night long, celebrities are rubbing shoulders with party guests, and I get styled by an incredible dress designer (Theia)! What’s not to love? And an Elton John party wouldn’t be complete without amazing music, right? Which is why Foster the People rocked the house! Never a dull moment at this upscale bash.
As I arrived, Gwen Stefani caused a flashbulb frenzy on the white red carpet, and alas, she was without hubby Gavin Rossdale. Taye Diggs and Dianna Agron chatted at a dinner table and exchanged contact info, while Agron’s Glee cast member Darren Criss graciously posed for pics with ladies who looked old enough to be his mother! Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder looked very couple-y as they strolled the party hand-in-hand, but refused to take pictures together. Petra Nemcova must really love red as she donned another crimson column dress for this party like she did for the Hollywood Domino soiree a few nights before.
Heidi Klum showed some leg in a bright yellow mini dress, while fellow supermodel Karolina Kurkova wore a sparkly white pantsuit and red high heels. Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl was rushing around the party, looking a little bit lost. Carmen Electra pretty in pink and was as sweet as pie, posed for pics with many a gawking man.
Miley Cyrus, sporting a faux bob, remained close with her beau Liam Hemsworth. And both Vanessa Hudgens and Haylie Duff sexy-danced and sang for their dates to the music of Foster the People. Malin Akerman mingled with guests as her hubby looked lovingly on. Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio showed off an even larger baby bump on the carpet, and Sir Elton himself seated the still blue-haired Katy Perry at his table because he had never met her before. Oh, what a night!
And here is the Foster the People performing their hit, “Pumped Up Kicks” at the fete:
