TYRESE DEBUTS BLACK ROSE AT THE SAMSUNG STUDIO LA

“Have I told you I love you, lately?” Tyrese crooned to an intimate crowd of industry insiders, die hard fans, and humble admirers alike this past week. Sexy red, blue and pink lights flashed over chic men and women swaying to the hypnotic R&B sound provided by the man of the hour. What am I talking about you ask? The Tyrese Album Release Party, of course. In partnership with Samsung, Tyrese promoted his latest and final album entitled Black Rose. The event was held in the posh Samsung Studio LA, in the Fairfax District, which boasts high ceilings, comfortable lounge areas, an exclusive VIP section, a fully stocked bar, and interactive Samsung tables (Samsung Trivia battle, and 3D goggles).

The Fast and Furious star and Grammy-nominated singer graced the stage around 8pm, full of energy and of course his undeniable swagger. Audience members relaxed on couches and moved easily around the room, until Tyrese beckoned for them to come forward and surround the stage. Flocks of women and men scurried to the stage, their camera phones leading the way. Tyrese started off with ‘Dumb Sh**t’ and ‘Waiting on You’, songs from his new album, then went old school with crowd pleasers like ‘Sweet Lady’, ‘Lately’, and ‘Stay’. Throughout the performance, Tyrese talked about the late Paul Walker, the importance of love and friendship, and his undying love for his fans.  These were touching moments and added to the intimacy of the event. Tyrese closed out the set with a very raw and personal song entitled ‘Shame’, a single off of Black Rose that can be found at the no. 2 spot on Billboards charts. Wow is all I can say! After the song concluded, Tyrese said one last I love you to the crowd and disappeared behind his band, back up dancers, and flickering strobe lights.

The party didn’t stop there, however. The DJ returned, continuing the hip-hop and neo-soul vibe that set the tone of the event before the concert. Some went back to the bar, others chatted and compared pictures in one of the many lounges, and a few grooved near the stage. It was hard to leave the mellow but lively atmosphere. All in all, it was a great performance, a great venue, and a great night. Thanks Tyrese and Samsung for turning an ordinary Wednesday into a great memory!

Black Rose is out July 10th and is now available for pre-order. What artist would you want to see at the Samsung Studio LA? Comment below!
