The Obamas hosted their 2nd White House State Dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, First Lady Margarita Zavala. Chicago based chef, Rick Bayless-an Obama favorite-was on hand to whip up Wagyu beef with his signature Mole sauce. What else was on the menu?  A salad of jicama with oranges, grapefruit and pineapple, followed by herb green ceviche of Hawaiian opah. The  black bean tamalon accompanied the entree. A chocolate cajeta tart with toasted homemade marshmallows was served for dessert, along with a graham cracker crumble and goat cheese ice cream.

Beyonce (who was introduced by the President as “somebody you may have heard of”) performed to an audience that included Olympic Gold Medalist Shawni Davis, Whoopi Goldberg, Jay-Z, Oprah bff Gayle King, Eva Longoria-Parker, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, comedian George Lopez, Illinois State Senator Iris Martinez, and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. President Obama toasted Calderon at the black tie affair by saying, “You and the Mexican people have a full and committed partner in the United States.” And you remember the Solahis aka the Gatecrashers from the first State Dinner, right? Turns out, their limo was spotted in the area & pulled over by the Secret Service. No uninvited guests this time around!
