Alright Fashionistas! Malan Breton presented by Rado watches at Style360-elegant, classy, meticulous attention to detail, love for design are the words that come to mind to describe his collection and presentation. In addition to billowy models, ballerinas pirouetted down the runway in his feminine yet tailored creations while the Chelsea Orchestra played classical music in the background.
In fact, he mentioned to me that his Spring 2010 collection was inspired by his ballet days growing up. The fabrics he used seemingly floated through the air. One of the best collections I have seen this week. See the video above for the ballerina dancing and the finale of his show.
Next up, the Rebecca Minkoff instillation drew the support of several of her celebrity friends, including Lauren Conrad who brought a group of girlfriends, actress Michelle Trachtenberg who told me that she loved all of Minkoff’s collection, Real Housewives of New Jersey’s resident villain Danielle Staub who revealed to me that she was excited to see her daughter walk in the show, and hottie Gerard Butler who made his way to the front of the crowd to check out Minkoff’s 90′s rock inspired designs, aka Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love.”
The evening show had a very rock n roll feel as Avril Lavigne presented her Abbey Dawn collection. In fact, the end of the runway was roped off in order to create a mosh pit feel. As her tunes blared over the speakers including “Sk8tr Boy,” tweens and teens charged down the catwalk in colored hoodies and top , patterned leggings, and lots of layers complemented by combat boots. At the end of the show, Avril cruised down the catwalk in a black 80′s goth-strapless bustier, tulle skirt a la Like A Virgin, and sky high stilettos.
The Skinny on Fashion hosted by Maria Menounous and Red Carpet Roxy courtesy of Oral-B Pulsonic, caught several celebrities throughtout the day including designer Tommy Hilfiger, Nicki Hilton, and Project Runway Season 5 alum Terri Stevens who mentioned to me that she will also be showing at Fashion Week. The after party at The Gates was attended by Avril and her supportive family sans hubby Sum 41′s Derek Whibley, Olympic Gymnast Nastia Lukken who told me how much fun she had modeling for the Spring BCBG campaign, and Fame star Paul Iocono who revealed to me that it was his birthday and that he would be elated if Avril sung “Happy Birthday” to him. Wonder if that happened?
