ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE’S VIP AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS AFTER PARTY

What a show! Not only did Justin Bieber walk away with the most American Music Awards last night-4; but the usually curly topped Taylor Swift bucked tradition and sported stick straight hair for the show; Bon Jovi led a rousing performance of “It’s My Life” which kept the audience, including Michael Chiklis, on its feet; and the New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys came together for a show stopping medley performance of some of their respective classics like “Hangin Tough” and “I Want It That Way.” Even Ke$ha was getting into the NKOTB/BB spirit, singing along to “The Right Stuff.” Awww, memories!

And I know I wasn’t alone in my recalling the past after these 2 boy bands performed. On Sunday night at the Rolling Stone Magazine’s VIP AMA’s after party at the brand new Rolling Stone Restaurant & Lounge, I was curious to know what the celebs thought of this boy band match up. A Marc Bouwer clad Karina Smirnoff (who is getting ready for her upcoming wedding by getting plenty of “sleep” so she won’t look like “Quasimoto”) beamed to me, “I love it! It’s good memories….it’s something I listened to in high school. We’ve had Joey McIntyre and Aaron Carter on (Dancing With the Stars). Maybe Nick Carter might do it next season?” Is that a hint, Karina? Singer Jesse McCartney acknowledged, “I think it is awesome! It is going to be a huge tour!” And new Glee cast member, Darren Criss, proclaimed, “(They were) such a huge part of growing up. Seeing them in front of you. It was awesome!” I feel your excitement, Darren.

And this was THE after party to be attending. Newlyweds Katy Perry and Russell Brand commandeered one end of the VIP area. Katy, in an Emilio Pucci gown and Jimmy Choo heels, was rocking out to the Beastie Boys “Paul Revere” while Russell was led around most of the evening by a big, burly bodyguard. Right next to them, The Black Eyed Peas Apl.De.Ap had fun toasting friends right before he got mobbed by a scantily dressed Tila Tequila, who also gunned for Omarion. On the other end of the VIP was the sexy Enrique Iglesias who had women surrounding his table. Across from him, a mellow Mark Salling kicked back with friends, while a silver sequin pants wearing Brandy led a girlfriend around the room. She did mention to me that a friend designed her outfit. Crafty!

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, who never removed his leather motorcycle jacket, posed for photos with fans and looked slightly annoyed when one aggressive female essentially laid across his lap for a picture. He then jumped up and started dancing on the banquette! Kid Rock and Ke$ha (who wore one of her dancer’s blond mullet wigs from the show) both cruised around the s0iree with each of their posses. Fresh off her finalized divorce from Derek Whibley, Avril Lavigne didn’t let it stop her from having fun as she partied with friends.

Glee’s Matthew Morrison arrived and left with N*Syncer JC Chasez. Crooner John Legend was enjoying the company of his model girlfriend, Christine Teigen, who were very affectionate with one another. New Mom Christina Millian sat with a gaggle of girlfriends and enjoyed mini sliders. Ray J and Kelly Osbourne mingled around the fete. Rocker Dave Navarro gazed over the VIP area from the second floor, while mega producer  Jimmy Iovine (U2, Stevie Nicks, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) worked the room.

A glowing Brittany Snow (who looked amazing in a Camilla and Marc mini dress also worn by Eva Longoria in Madrid last week, and nude Jimmy Choo strappy heels) )chatted with a male guest for a good part of the night and a black lace dress wearing Mena Suvari was never away from her hubby, Simone Sestito, who was outgoing and chatty with other party goers. Handsome Jon Bon Jovi dashed in and out of the party. And Mike “The Situation” Sorentino had a buxom blonde on his arm throughout the night. She remained extremely patient, even while other female guests gave the Jersey Shore star plenty of attention. What can you say? GTL!
