RED CARPET ROXY’S “RED ALERT” OF THE WEEK-WEHO SAYS NO TO FUR

The City of West Hollywood, or WeHo as it is widely known, has banned the sale of fur in their animal-loving city. Just last month, the city council voted to ban the sale of it within the city limits. WeHo will become the first fur-free city in the nation. Very interesting, considering the area is home to the stores of many fur-loving fashion designers. Nonetheless, this is a major victory for animals.

Said West Hollywood City Councilman John D’Amico, who is a supporter of animal rights,”The effort will encourage the promotion of West Hollywood as a destination for cruelty-free and animal welfare events and establishing West Hollywood as the humane capital of the United States.” He continued, “For our city, this is both good policy and a good business opportunity. West Hollywood is poised to position itself as a humane, thoughtful place and to extend that invitation to people from around the world who visit here as well as those who do business here. This is about who we are and the way we live now.

This legislation follows WeHo’s previous ruling that there should be no cat declawing and no sale of animals in pet stores, thereby reducing the number of puppy mill and kitty mill animals sold. What do you think about west Hollywood becoming a fur-free city?
