RED CARPET READY: RED CARPET ROXY CHATS WITH DESIGNER KEVAN HALL AND FASHION LEGEND OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Presenter Diane Lane and honoree Oscar de la Renta

When I think of Oscar de la Renta, usually rich colors, great attention to detail, and exquisite taste come to mind. Truly a fashion legend and visionary, Mr. de la Renta got his start apprenticing for Cristobal Balenciaga, the most famous Spanish couturier, and continued to rise through the ranks of style designing at Lanvin, Elizabeth Arden, and Christian Dior before launching his own label in 1965. No doubt you have seen the likes of the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Nancy Reagan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hillary Clinton, Beyonce, and countless others donning his designs at a high profile or Red Carpet events. It’s a no brainer when you are talking about one of the greatest couturiers of our time-Oscar de la Renta.

Screen siren Raquel Welch

And I had a chance to chat with this fashion icon yesterday in Beverly Hills at The Colleagues Spring luncheon where Oscar was being honored with the Champion of Children award, presented by Diane Lane, for all of the charitable things he does for children, like building a school & daycare for impoverished kids in his native Dominican Republic. He discusses his award, how the world of fashion is changing, and the woman he designs for. Also at the event was designer Kevan Hall who I enjoyed speaking with about style and how Oscar has influenced him and his work, and a still looking hot Raquel Welch made her way down the Red Carpet with friend Alana Stewart.
