PART ONE: ADRIENNE MALOOF TALKS SHOES, BEAUTY BUYS, CLOSET FASHION STAPLE

Adrienne Maloof could easily be called the hardest working woman on the Real Housewives series. Not only is she co-owner of the Maloof Companies which include business holdings such as the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and the Sacramento Kings, but she has also launched a shoe line with Charles Jourdan and is designing the next collection on her own. Oh yeah, she also takes care of her three young sons who are under the the age of nine and her hubby, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif, whose witty remarks are hard to miss on her hit reality show. And I was able to catch up with her yesterday to hear more about her crazy busy life, the show, and of course, shoes!

RCR: You have done a really great job with your shoe collection with Charles Jourdan.

AM: Thanks. I am really proud of it. It’s my first collection. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a very young girl. So dreams do come true!

RCR: How has it been realizing your dream?

AM: Obviously, Bravo has given me the opportunity to have a platform to do something I have dreamed of my whole life. And it’s been amazing. It’s a lot of hard work, which I am used to, but overall it is so rewarding. I think I have put out a beautiful collection and I look forward to moving on to my own line.

RCR: Why have you decided to go out on your own for your next collection?

AM: I realized that my fans loved my collection, but most of them couldn’t afford that price point. So what I want to do is have an affordable price point shoe line for my fans because they want that Beverly Hills lifestyle. I want to give them something beautiful that is made of quality and is luxurious, but has an affordable price point.

RCR: How hands on are you in the design process?

AM: I am very hands on. Like my family business, I am as hands on as I can be. I have to prioritize. My family comes first, but I wouldn’t take on a business unless I could be hands on.

RCR: Tell me about the Fall 2012 collection. What is the inspiration?

AM: My life is so diversified. I’m a mom, a reality star, a businesswoman. I have to go to black tie events, cocktail events, school events. So, I made shoes for the on-the-go mom to the big city fashionista. You’ll see flat boots, riding boots, ballerina flats, wedges, and of course, what I am known for, the stilettos. Can’t forget those! The everyday woman is my inspiration.

RCR: Is there anything you won’t wear?

AM: I personally do not like anything with too square of a toe or a chunky heel. It does nothing for elongating the leg. Or anything wrapped around the ankle.

RCR: How many pairs of shoes do you think you have in your personal closet?

AM: Well, now that I am really involved in the shoe industry, I’d probably say 300-400.

RCR: That is a girl’s dream!

AM: It’s a girl’s dream. I have my own shoe closet now, with my office inside of my shoe closet. I am surrounding by beautiful things and the things that I love!

RCR: Shifting gears, what are the three beauty items that you can’t live without?

AM: A Chanel lip gloss and a coral YSL lipstick because you can put a little bit on and head out the door. Also, there is a clear lip gloss by Givenchy that I really like as well. Also, I love the Chanel 50 SPF sunscreen. It is really lightweight and I mix it with my foundation. And a great styling gel for my hair, so I can slick my hair back in the summer. I like the L’Oreal brand. I love a great buy like that. Something very affordable that works really well.

RCR: What is your favorite budget fashion buy?

AM: I think leggings are a great inexpensive buy. I think the budget-friendly styles work just as well as a high end brands, and are half the price point. A nice legging by Hue. Those work great.

RCR: What is your staple fashion item in your closet right now?

AM: I wear a little black blazer with long blouses. I think a little black blazer goes with everything. With jeans. You can dress it up or dress it down. It’s timeless.
