The late Michael Jackson was honored last night in a special tribute on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars presented by Macy’s “Stars of Dance.” The professional dancers on the show all came together and danced to some of MJ’s classics like “Man in the Mirror” and “Thriller” and they were visibly moved when speaking about the pop culture icon with Karina Smirnoff calling him “the father of dance” and Cheryl Burke saying that every dancer has incorporated Michael’s dance moves into their routines. Jackson’s sister La Toya introduced the piece and made mention that Michael was a big fan of DWTS. Also in attendance from the Jackson family were matriarch Katherine and sibling Jermaine who seemed thrilled (no pun intended!) with the performance. It just reinforces what an indelible mark Michael made in the world and how he changed not only the face of dance and music, but pop culture in general. RIP Michael, your music and dance lives on.
