Designer Raul Melgoza of Luca Luca presented a collection that was full of mixed fabrics, lengths, and styles while opting for a decidedly more trendy feel. One of my favorites was a gold beaded “Welcome to the party!” mini dress, long sleeved with a keyhole back. Another big thing at the show was the trench in varying shades of silver (my fave was the gunmetal stunner that opened the show) as well as silky, draped fabric-especially on the longer dresses that closed the show-one of the best was the ivory silk gown with the gold encrusted razor back-HOT! Think Grecian with a touch of disco. And celebrity followers like Kelly Bensimon was in attendance and who was dressed in a black lace top fielding questions from reporters-no doubt about her new Playboy spread which hit the stands on Friday. Also on hand at the show were supermodels Carol Alt and Irina, and ex-American Idol-er and Rock of Ages star Constantine Maroulis-who knew he was a fan?-who looked like he had more fun chatting with Tinsley Mortimer than he did watching the fashions go by.
