The first of the major Academy Awards events kicked off Hollywood awards season last night in Los Angeles. The Governors Awards was held at The Ray Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Honorees included writer-director Charles Burnett, cinematographer Owen Roizman, actor Donald Sutherland and director Agnès Varda, and a Special Award (Oscar statuette) to Alejandro Iñárritu’s “CARNE y ARENA” virtual reality installation.
And Jennifer Lawrence was in attendance to present Donald Sutherland his award. And during her speech, she revealed that Sutherland took her under his wing when they were filming The Hunger Games years ago. He sent her a box of fifty books, and one of them-Anna Karenina-became her favorite.
Lawrence also made it a date night with director beau, Darren Aronofsky, who sat with her at her table. Earlier in the evening, JLaw reunited with one of her besties, Emma Stone, on the red carpet. And speaking of Stone, she also met up with her former boyfriend, Andrew Garfield, for some friendly chat during the show. Angelina Jolie, Margot Robbie, and Whoopi Goldberg also joined in for the festivities.
The Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 on ABC. Will you be watching?
