IT’S A WRAP!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

pic10Last night brought me, Red Carpet Roxy, to one of the hottest parties in all of Hollywood-the wrap party for Season 2 of ABC Studios, “Private Practice,” sponsored by L.A. Magazine, Asics, Whole Living Naturals and H.Wood. The shindig was held at newly opened venue, H. Wood in the Hollywood & Highland Complex. It is helmed by Loyal Pennings (of hotspot LAX) and John Terzian. When I first walked in, I was greeted by a friendly staff offering Rose’s Mojitos Cocktails, namely the Private Practice Passion Marani Mojito and Dr. Pete’s Magic Elixir, and as I proceeded, the music of old time jazz filled my ears. The decor is very old Hollywood with dark woods, very antiquey looking, old wingback chairs, and velvet looking couches. Think Hollywood speakeasy.

The first celeb arrival was Tim Daly, aka “Dr. Pete.” As he was posing for pictures on the step and repeat, the photog made a joke that she was paparazzi and in turn, he pretended to make a fist at her. No love for the paps here! Next up, the always spunky and adorable Mr. Taye Diggs. He is one of the only men who could show up in a blue blazer and bowtie (which he did) and totally rock the look. Also with him, was his super talented wife, Idina Menzel whom he met while they were both in the original Broadway production of “Rent” (one of my personal favorites.) The rest of the cast arrived soon after, including Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Audra McDonald, Grant Show (smokin’ hot while sipping a Coca-Cola), Amy Brenneman, and lastly, Kate Walsh, who was in a super short mini and what looked to be a bazillion dollars in diamonds. Must be nice! Also in attendance was series creator, executive producer, and writer Shonda Rhimes.

pic11Everyone was having a blast and I don’t know who was enjoying the dance floor more-Taye Diggs (posing for pictures with all of the ladies) or Amy Brenneman (by the end of the night she was barefoot!). Both can cut some serious rug! The funniest part of the night came when it was time to play the gag reel-the series of outtakes and bloopers from the show this past season. Kate took the mic and attempted to get people’s attention to introduce the reel, but it was hard to do so because the music was blasting and people kept chatting. Finally, she joked that she would bark like a dog to get the crowd’s attention, which she did! Let’s just say that the room went quiet after that.
The gag reel was super funny-lots of cussing, forgotten lines, talk of farting, faking orgasms during love scenes, but one of the funnier moments was when Taye busted out, in the middle of a take, one of the main songs from “Rent”-Seasons of Love aka 525,600 Minutes! I guess you had to be there, but the crowd was dying!

By the end of the night I was chatting with series star, Kate Walsh. She was extremely sweet and very generous as just about the entire party snapped photos with her. She was having a great time which was well deserved after long days and nights of shooting. In fact, I was invited to go to the after party at a secluded location in the Hills. Did I go? Hmmm…………
