HONOREES SOFIA VERGARA, ANNALYNNE MCCORD, AND OTHERS WALK THE WHITE CARPET AT HOLLYWOOD LIFE’S BREAKTHROUGH OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen

Last night, celebs with some of the best smiles in Hollywood attended Hollywood Life’s Breakthrough of the Year Awards, presented by Crest 3D White. It is no wonder their pouts were picture perfect after they used the Crest 3D white collection, which if used together, whitens teeth in as little as one day! Talk about speed whitening! Honorees of the evening included: Emmy nominated Sofia Vergara, Dianna Argon, Jessica Szohr, Matt Bomer, Landon Donovan, Jason Blum, Josh Hutcherson, Cody Simpson, Global Green, RealD, Diller, Scofido + Renfro, and 90210’s Anna-Lynne McCord.

The event was hosted by Heather McDonald from Chelsea Lately who did a fantastic job making the audience roll. In fact, I was seated next to 4 time Emmy nominee Sharon Lawrence (also a presenter) who let out several chuckles during McDonald’s “stand up.” Some hilarious quips included:

1. Referring to the evening as the “Breakdown Awards” honoring Mel Gibson, and then reenacting one of his infamous telephone calls to former girlfriend Oksana complete with heavy breathing.

"True Blood's" Joe Manganiello

2. Introducing True Blood’s Joe Manganiello, who is extremely buff, and then comparing him to Taylor Lautner saying that Manganiello is so “well built that he makes Lautner look like a shitzu!”

3, And finally the cake topper, as RealD won for “Breakthrough in Technology” Heather remarked how many others movies would be great in 3D including Precious because “you could reach out and touch Mo’Nique’s mustache!” Ick!

And Heather wasn’t the only funny one of the night. When introducing fellow Modern Family cast mate and Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara, the self-deprecating Julie Bowen cracked, “Sofia taught me about humility. I used to think I was attractive and then I showed up to work!” After accepting her award for Breakthrough Actress in TV, the busty but modestly dressed (in a plum colored sheath) Sofia joked, “The only thing I thought was going to break through were my blouses!” Down boys, down!

Dianna Argon and Dermot Mulroney

Dianna Argon who was decked in a summery, floral Carolina Herrera number was called “Alice Cooper and Grace Kelly’s love child” by Glee Co-Creator and Executive Producer Brad Fulchuk, who presented her with Breakthrough Newcomer. Dermot Mulroney presented the Breakthrough Actress in Film Award to Ed Westwick’s galpal & Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr, after he pointed out that Szohr’s name backwards is pronounced “roses.” I have a feeling that nickname will be sticking for a while, and AnnaLynne McCord agreed saying that would be her new name for her good friend.

Honorees Jessica Szohr in Ruby Smallbone and AnnaLynne McCord in Herve Leger

And the philanthropic, Herve Leger bandage dress clad McCord probably had the most heartfelt speech of the night, despite the projector skipping over her video intro (which happened a few times over the course of the evening). Being a good sport, she declared, “It’s OK. I’ll wait. I want you to see why I am getting this award.” She then spoke about dedicating her time to the St. Bernard Project which rebuilds the homes and lives of the Hurricane Katrina & Gulf Oil Spill victims. She was thrilled to be given a platform to use her voice to help others, and reinforced that she wanted to “empower and challenge my peers” for the greater good. Good celebrity!

After the lengthy awards ceremony, guests rushed out the door to stand in line for delectable edibles from Nobu. The line was really long as people piled their plates (some were 3 sushi rolls deep!) You know what they say, “Free Nobu, will travel!” And that they did!

Sofia and Kelly Brook

Stay tuned for my video interviews with the celebs….wonder how Kelly Brook prepared for her Playboy shoot? How things are going for Jessica Szohr on the set of Gossip Girl? What are the girls planning on wearing to the Emmy’s? Those questions and more will be answered very soon…..so come back!
