I guess in this case, first time’s the charm. The very first Daily Front Row Fashion Los Angeles Awards Show was held on Thursday at Sunset Towers in West Hollywood, and it had quite the turnout. The front row for the Front Row could boast of having Kanye West, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus not only under one roof, but all sitting in a perfectly photogenic and horizontal line. Other attendees included Ciara, Gigi Hadid, Nicole Richie, Kerry Washington, Dita von Teese, and Drew Barrymore, among others. The night served to honor Jeremy Scott as Designer of the Year, Gigi Hadid as Model of the Year, and Milk Studios’ Mazdack Rassi as Fashion Innovator of the Year. And it was certainly a fashion frenzy.
Miley Cyrus showed up in typical Miley fashion (although can anything she does be called “typical” at this point) sporting a short, white, loose-fitting Moschino dress that said “I had nothing to wear so I put on this Moschino dress,” which she finished off with white pointed-toe pumps, a red lip, and plenty of jewelry. She also got the opportunity to present Scott’s award, which she did by saying, “When I do wear clothes, and don’t have my titties out…you can thank Jeremy Scott for that.”
Katy Perry gave shower slides their time to shine. While her hair was purple, everything else was pink. Yes, everything. She rocked a fur stole, clutch purse, and Adidas flip-flops that all shared a vibrant bubblegum hue.
Rihanna isn’t one to be usurped. She may not have presented Scott’s award, but she did coordinate outfits. She wore a sequined coat with a fur trim (to match his own sequins and fur), but upped the sex appeal ante by foregoing anything underneath.
Kanye West, ever the eloquent speaker, presented Rassi with his award, saying, “Everyone is a fashion insider. It’s illegal to be naked.” Classic Kanye.
Nicole Richie coincidentally matched her hair to Katy Perry’s…everything. She debuted a bubblegum pink hairdo that offset a black leather Alfredo Villalba Fall 2014 dress.
And, thank the fashion gods, they all posed for pictures with each other. Let’s make these awards annual, shall we?
