It has been 8 years since Azzedine Alaia’s last runway show. So it should come as no surprise that his couture show in Paris this past week was attended by several fashion luminaries and style lovers including Donatella Versace, Carine Roitfield, Kanye West, Sofia Coppolla, and French Minister of Culture Frederic Mitterand. A true designer’s designer, Alaia has always been a visionary in his craft.

The collection was quite modern and incorporated details such as laser cuts on velvet and crocodile print embossed leather.

The wool coat dress was also shown, which will look fantastic with ankle boots in the fall and winter.

The final 2 evening looks on the runway were both gorgeous and incorporated long and full skirts and sheer paneling. Sexy without being overly exposed. Stunning.

What is great about Alaia is that even though his designs are very modern, they never really go out of style. My first Alaia body con LBD that I purchased years ago-on the advice of Standarde-remains one of my fave closet staples that I own. Welcome back to the runway, Alaia!
